COMPASSION

Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

Compassion is a profound human emotion prompted by the pain of others. More vigorous than empathy, the feeling commonly gives rise to an active desire to alleviate another's suffering.

Are you prepared to do your part on Wednesday November 5, 2008? Although I have heard less of this talk this year, there are still many people that feel as if their vote isn't important and won't change a thing. Since I don't consider myself a political activist or this blog a political site, I will refrain from discussing my thoughts on that opinion, however I would like to share my thoughts on your ability and hopefully your desire to make, not just see change happen regardless of your voting stance.

I have searched and studied and have yet to find any information on how Jesus voted, but I have found a wealth of information on how he lived. How he lived was driven by how he felt. What he felt consistently was compassion.

Matthew 9:36 - But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Matthew 14:14 - And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Luke 7:13 - And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

When you wake up on November 5th there will still be hunger near your neighborhood (I don't care how rich you are; it's closer than you realize). There will still be job instability. Poverty will still exist. The hungry, the poor, and the unemployed will not ask for your voter registration card, and they may not ask who you voted for, or even care if you voted at all. They'll be looking to see if the love of Jesus survived the election in you. Keep you Godly focus. Keep your Godly passion. Keep your compassion.

This is SLC. I'm running for Jesus, not president, and I approved this message.

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him,

how dwelleth the love of God in him?

1 John 3:17 (KJV)

I get so angry with some of the things that are going on during this process that it seems like I forget to take a step back, calm down and realize that things will work out the way God wants them to.

Great post!
